ماسة طفلة صغيرة تحب أقلام التلوين كثيرًا وعلى الأخص قلمها الأحمر. انتبهت ذات يوم إلى أن قلمها الأحمر أصبح قصيرًا وضايقها ذلك جدًا وأخذت تفكر كيف تعبر عن تقديرها له. وصادف قرب عيد ميلادها فطلبت من عائلتها أن يقدموا لها علبة جميلة لتجعلها منزلاً للقلم الأحمر وأقلامًا ملونة لتكون عائلته. وصارت تستخدم قلمها الأحمر بحرص كي لا يصغر أكثر. القصة طريفة وتعلم الأطفال حب الأقلام والرسم كما تعلمهم تقدير ما يحبون والمحافظة عليه. كما تؤكد القصة أهمية الأقلام والورق في عالم ساد فيه استخدام الكمبيوتر والهواتف الذكية والتطبيقات.
