Answering young children's questions about racism is hard. This book gives both children and adults the language and sensitivity they need to talk about the topic. It gently explains what racism is, how it happens, why it is NEVER acceptable and what each and every one of us can do to eradicate it.
I saw this book when I was doing the weekly Tesco shop and had to pick it up. I’m so glad I did. It is such an accessible book to share with young children. I’ve already read it to my little bookworm and I think it would be a great addition to school libraries as well.
This book answers children’s questions in a clear and informative way - giving them the tools they need to stand up to help stop racism.
My 4year old really engaged with this book - she enjoyed the flaps and liked that each one was a different question/ answer
What a great book this in making children and young people aware of what racism is and what it means and feels like. It is full of facts and real life situations that many children can relate too and understand. Plenty of opportunities for discussions and listening to children's opinions.
My daughter is almost 6 and it took us 2 days to complete the book as it is full of information and detail (some maybe not so relative to her age) it makes it easy for children to understand in a simple way all the while keeping them interested with the illustrations and turn the flap pages. The book led to discussions which lasted a while.
Overall an incredibly detailed interactive book with really good illustrations. My daughter and I really benefited from this book as it made a not so easy topic very simple to read and discuss. This book is something that will definitely be used through the years as she grows and has a better understanding
